The Wisdom Years
Now in its third year of ministry, The Wisdom Years continues to focus on spiritual formation for older adults.
The community that has built itself continues to develop deep spiritual connections with each other and love for each other. This year we have lost one of our community to death, four of us have lost husbands, one of us is going through divorce after 45 years of marriage, and several of our members have moved. We support and uphold each other, not with advice but with love and companionship, through these life crises we so often face in this season of life.
This year we hosted five studies by Zoom, with about 25-30 participants in each. The studies are generally 4 to 6 weeks long.

Adverbs for Advent

We are increasingly posting the content of our studies on our website in a form that can be used by individuals, small groups, and congregations.
As we begin to emerge from the COVID pandemic, and aware that many people do not like to use Zoom, in 2023 we are expanding the ministry to include hybrid (in person and online simultaneously) one-day workshops. Our goal is to host four per year.
We are also writing a core curriculum that would emphasize the most common issues for those in their older years. Our emphasis continues to be on the spirituality of this season of life, realizing that as we age our longing for connection with God increases immeasurably. We want this curriculum to be accessible for congregations with very little work on their part.
We are grateful for the support of the diocese as The Wisdom Years reaches more and more late-age adults.
