We have set aside an hour on Thursday afternoons as our sacred time. We come together online using Zoom, which allows us to gather from every corner of the country. We started online because of COVID, but have found a home in this technology. The companionship we’ve created online has surprised and delighted all of us.
We welcome those of every denomination or no denomination at all. Our core group comes from the Episcopal Church tradition, which is wide and expansive in its understanding that God’s grace is available to all who seek it.
In our time together on Thursdays, we consider books and topics that foster spiritual growth especially for the last third of our lives. We gather in plenary sessions and in small groups as we learn from the insights that bubble up from our own souls and from each other. We adhere to a model in which every voice has value and where no one is judged, corrected, challenged, or given advice.
We meet at 4 p.m. (Central time) on Thursdays, except when we are on a short break. Often in preparation for our time together before Thursday, on our own we read an article, a chapter in an assigned book, or respond to a prompt. Typically there is no charge for these gatherings, but participants pay for their material.
